In 2020, Zone 3 partnered with artist Sophy Tuttle to transform the facade of the old New England Deposit Library at 135 Western Avenue, into a vibrant public mural celebrating the natural world.  Contributing to Walls on Western, a mural-focused public art program intended to highlight Boston area artists with a connection to the Allston and Brighton area, Sophy’s 3,000 sq ft mural was our largest undertaking yet. Featuring native birds, insects, and plants, the artwork brought a sense of wonder and connection to the neighborhood at a time when many people were spending more time outdoors and seeking moments of beauty close to home. The project quickly became a local landmark and helped demonstrate the power of public art to spark conversation, strengthen community, and create a more welcoming public realm.
