About the Program
After 5 wonderful years with the installation WE ALL illuminating The Grove, located at the intersection of Western Ave and N. Harvard Street, we are introducing the next iteration of inclusive public art. The Zone 3 Community Sketchbook, a program created in collaboration with Harvard University Planning and Design, will reimagine the space as a new community asset where people can gather to learn new skills and express themselves artistically.

Kicking off with a full day event on Saturday, July 16, Boston-area artists Kayla Myers (aka GOLDLEMONS) and Christian Rodriguez (aka TECHNI), will lead the community through a number of hands-on art making activities that will contribute to 200ft of large-scale murals, aiming to keep the publicly accessible green space bright and active all summer long. In September we will turn the page on the Sketchbook with additional installations and community workshops led by two new artists.

An ever-evolving space that will look vastly different from day to day, and season to season.
After the two initial public art installations are completed, the Community Sketchbook wall will be thought of as an ever-evolving community art wall. There are chalkboards and chalk markers on either side of the murals for community members and passersby to leave their mark. We encourage you to engage and embrace this section of the wall!

This is just the first of a series of events that will allow you to learn more techniques and styles from advanced community artists. Stay tuned for information about how we will be turning the page on the sketchbook this fall…
