Join the Harvard Art Museums and the Harvard Ed Portal for a FREE virtual, interactive museum tour series this winter! Throughout December, January, and February, Harvard undergraduate tour guides will lead fun, engaging tours of the Harvard Art Museums’ collections.
Adam Sella ’22 explores the color blue in three works of art: Hiroshige’s print Yamato Province: Yoshino, a Thousand Cherry Trees at One Glance, Picasso’s painting Mother and Child (from his Blue period), and Josef Albers’ painting Homage to the Square: Against Deep Blue. Taking the Museums’ Forbes Pigment Collection as a springboard, the tour considers blue’s basis in pigments and optics, its history, and its power to stir up emotions.
