ART SCRIM is a temporary outdoor gallery program that highlights local artists by turning construction fencing into a platform for sharing art. ART SCRIM builds on the spirit of other Zone 3 programs like Walls on Western and Art in Print, continuing a commitment to supporting artists, amplifying community voices, and energizing the streetscape.

Buildings hold memory. They are shaped not just by design, but by the lives, relationships, and moments that unfold within them. Through collage, Emma reconstructs architectural spaces using fragments of printed material, layering pieces together to reflect how we remember place: imperfect, overlapping, and deeply personal. Her work focuses on Harvard and the surrounding Boston area, blending campus landmarks with the broader city to create a visual narrative of connection, history, and everyday experience.

Missy Arellano uses collage to question and reimagine the structures that shape our lives. Bringing together her paper doll series and Test Anxiety, she layers bodies, natural forms, and scantron sheets to explore identity, pressure, and transformation. By interrupting rigid systems with symbols of growth like butterflies and insects, she creates unexpected juxtapositions that challenge control and belonging, using tension and contrast to open space for new, more expansive narratives.

“Futures” is a collage series that abstracts organic visual elements by layering them in structured compositions. Paper textures, vibrant colors, and images of natural environments are arranged to produce visual depth and to blur and contrast between nature and urbanism, realism and fantasy, individual and collective whole. The collage is inspired by key design elements of the project including a palate of natural materials and a richly woven brick facade.

Each and None is a portrait series covering both the fence and jersey barriers below, that takes visual inspiration from printmaking and folk art to express the difficulty and beauty that comes with the merge of varied cultural experiences. Anna Dugan, is a mixed race Filipino American artist based in Salem, MA whose work is heavily influenced by her Filipino culture and the nuanced experiences as a mixed race person.
